Privacy

Zena has no accounts, no tracking and no ads. This is everything that happens with data.

What leaves your phone

Zena talks to one server of its own, a Cloudflare Worker, and to Apple. Nothing else.

The Zena server is at zena-api.zerolabs.se

To the Zena server
Stop ids when the app asks for the departures of a stop, and the stop list and notices, which are the same for everyone. Start and end points for a journey search: stops, or coordinates. A coordinate can be your position when you plan "from my position". The server rounds coordinates to about 50 metres before using them, so that nearby questions share a cached answer. Which stops are nearest to you is worked out on the phone and is not sent.
To Apple
Searching for a place or an address uses Apple Maps search, and the walking routes on a journey are fetched from Apple Maps. Those requests go to Apple and are handled under Apple's privacy policy, not by me. The maps themselves are Apple's too.

What the server keeps

Nothing about you. The server keeps a few anonymous counts in Cloudflare Analytics Engine: how many calls it makes to AMT, by type and result; for each journey search, whether it was a departure or an arrival search, how many journeys it found and how much work it took; and a sample of matched realtime lines (line, destination and stop) to check how AMT writes line names. None of it holds coordinates, device identifiers or anything that says who asked.

No request is logged, so your position and your searches are never stored. Your IP address is used by Cloudflare, transiently, to limit searches to 30 a minute. It isn't stored by Zena, and it isn't part of the counts above. Cloudflare runs the server and handles requests under its own privacy policy.

What stays on the phone

Your favourite stops and lines, your saved places with their names, your recent places and the timetable the app has downloaded are stored on the phone only, and are shared only with Zena's widget on the same phone. They are never sent to the server, and they go when you delete the app.

What there isn't

  • No accounts and no sign-in.
  • No tracking, and no third-party analytics.
  • No ads.
  • Nothing is sold or passed on, since there is nothing to sell.

Your rights and contact

Since nothing is stored about you, there is no record to request, correct or delete. If you still have a question, or think something here is wrong, write to zena-admin@zerolabs.se.

If this policy changes, the new date is below.
